On Friday September 5, 2019 at the Fin/SUM Fintech and RegTech Summit in Tokyo,  the APAC RegTech Network announced the admission of the Fintech Association of Malaysia as its first new member since the Network was established by the RegTech committees of the fintech associations of Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore on May 30, 2019.

Takeshi Kito, chair of the RegTech&SupTech committee of the Fintech Association of Japan said: “I feel honored to have such a meaningful discussion regarding our cross-border cooperation with Fintech Association of Hong Kong and Singapore FinTech Association at the FIN/SUM 2019. Also, I would like to welcome Fintech Association of Malaysia to be part of this initiative for making more impact on the APAC RegTech scene.”

“We are thrilled to have Malaysia join our fledgling APAC RegTech Network, which is already showing concrete and promising progress, such as meeting together here at Fin/SUM, Japan’s premier fintech and regtech summit,” said Brian Tang, co-chair of the RegTech Committee of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong, the oldest RegTech committee that has been operating since 2017.

“The power of collaboration leveraging each other’s strength and exploring opportunities is what make this network amazing. We are still very young and certainly look forward to working closely with our Malaysian counterpart,” noted Chionh Chye Kit, Chair of the RegTech Sub-Committee of Singapore FinTech Association.

“In line with its objective and mission statement, Fintech Association of Malaysia (FAOM) is proud to represent Malaysia and to be part of the effort in establishing the APAC Regtech Network, and is eager and committed to contributing towards an effective and mutually beneficial collaboration with  all members of the APAC Regtech Network.”

In addition to their forthcoming first of a series of regular virtual meetings across the four jurisdictions, each of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong Regtech Committee and the Singapore Fintech Association Regtech Sub-Committee plans to host book launch events in relation to the recently published The REGTECH Book during the Hong Kong Fintech Week and the Singapore Fintech Festival respectively in November. Three of the regtech committee chairs are chapter authors of The REGTECH Book.

The REGTECH Book: The Financial Technology Handbook for Investors, Entrepreneurs and Visionaries is edited by Janos Barberis, Douglas W. Arner and Ross P. Buckley and published by Wiley as the latest in a series that started with the best-selling The FINTECH Book (2016) and was followed by The WEALTHTECH Book (2018) and The INSURETECH Book (2018). It is available now on Amazon and Book Depositary.
