Singapore FinTech Startup FIGS launches smart investment app in Japan

FIGS delivers professional knowledge and insights so that anyone can start smarter investing

FIGS Inc. Japan GK, part of FIGS Inc. Singapore, a FinTech company which aims to make the world of investment more accessible, launched a new investment platform; “FIGS”. FIGS drives smarter investing and provides a level playing field to all investors.

In Japan, there is a desperate need for tools geared towards private investors so that they can make informed decisions about their money. There are several government schemes that encourage individuals to switch from saving to investing.

These schemes attempt to address problems in the pension system due to a rapidly ageing population and low holdings of stocks (at around 10% of assets) by Japanese individuals compared to the US (at around 35% of assets).

In this era of information overload, there are numerous obstacles to investing, such as difficulties in choosing the best financial service and what information to trust. In addition, professional information and methods are also out of reach for the everyday investor.

In seeking to address this, FIGS co-founders Eugene Ong and Raymond Chan, both who have a combined 40 years’ experience in the financial industry, spotted an opportunity to help individual investors make more informed investment choices. They came up with Financial Innovation Gateways, or FIGS; a user-friendly web/mobile app service that places the power and knowledge to invest in users’ hands.

FIGS offers an easy-to-understand suite of investment tools along with a “Learn” section that provides in-depth sector and theme reports, infographics, videos and related news. Key features include:

  • Investment views from over 2,300 professional analysts
  • Comprehensive stock information for seven markets worldwide
  • Top investment ideas and trends covering both Japanese and international markets

“FIGS will make it much easier for Japanese private investors to invest in global stocks” says Mr. Masato Takamura, the representative director and the president of SBI Securities, which is partnering with FIGS in Japan.

FIGS will be available in Singapore, as of now, and has the ultimate goal of serving users in three global languages; Chinese, English and Japanese.

We look forward to serving all aspiring investors to help them on the road to smarter investing.
