SINGAPORE AND SWITZERLAND FINTECH ASSOCIATIONS JOIN FORCES TO CULTIVATE GLOBAL FINTECH ECOSYSTEM
– The Singapore FinTech Association and Swiss Finance + Technology Association sign Memorandum of Understanding –
06 September 2017, Singapore/ Zurich, Switzerland – The Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) and the Swiss Finance + Technology Association (SFTA) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster greater FinTech corporation between the two communities.
The MOU signed between the non-profit associations aims to bridge the two FinTech ecosystems, through cross border collaboration and initiatives. Concretely, there will an official Swiss delegation making the trip in November to Singapore Fintech Festival. Further exchanges are planned to link these two hubs, which share similar profiles as leaders in regional wealth management with impeccable reputations for business services. The partnership will continue to nurture global business opportunities and allow exchange of expertise between members, with the aim of developing innovation in both markets.
Mr John Hucker, CFA, President of SFTA, said: “Singapore is an important partner in our global network of FinTech hubs. They set a fine example of the potential for FinTech, with natural synergies between Switzerland and Singapore. For example, our shared wealth management industries, leading technical universities, and stable governments. We are looking forward to Swiss participation at the Singapore Fintech Festival and to welcoming guests from Singapore to Switzerland in 2018. This MOU is another example of our focused efforts to enable a global FinTech ecosystem which can generate returns for all stakeholders.”
Mr Chia Hock Lai, President of the SFA said: “Our partnership with the SFTA is a crucial step in elevating new relationships and growing the global reach of both FinTech communities. We are really excited to see the new innovations coming out of Switzerland, and look forward to showcasing them at the Singapore Fintech Festival in November.”
SFTA has welcomed partner organisations on to its platform, ranging from local academic institutions and associations, it also includes an exclusive group of the most relevant global FinTech hubs such as UK, Luxembourg, and most recently, the Abu Dhabi.
The SFA has also signed memorandums of understanding with institutions of higher learning in Singapore to support job creation at home along with the Copenhagen FinTech Association to boost overseas engagement.
