Women In Blockchain/Fintech: Education And Awareness At The Tertiary Level
August 3, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Did you know that only 8% of the Fintech directors globally are female? In 2017, women represented a mere 29% of the sector at London, a figure unlikely to differ much across the globe. An amalgamation of two industries that have seen under-representation of women (Finance and Technology), Fintech suffers from the lack of gender diversity. This has starved the industry of different perspectives, channels of information as well as skillsets. With only 5-7% of cryptocurrency users being female, the statistics are unlikely to differ much for the Blockchain industry.
Tertiary education is the last stop on the journey to the workplace for many. To better match the skillsets between what fresh graduates have and what the industry needs, it is important to start gaining the relevant skillsets while pursuing tertiary education. Join us as we explore the reasons behind the lack of female participation in these areas, and how can we better encourage females to step up in the blockchain scene.
